CHEESE ROLLING

Perhaps, the only sport to involve food other than competitive eating, cheese rolling is among the oldest tradition that has been practised over 200 years ago. Every year, on the Spring Bank Holiday, a round, handmade, seven-pound circle of Double Gloucester cheese (a traditional, semi-hard cheese which has been made in Gloucestershire, England) is rolled down the Cooper Hill and a gaggle of people chase down behind it. Competitors will race down the hill after the cheese and the first one to arrive at the foot of the hill will become the winner and win the cheese.

Double Gloucester Cheese has been rolled in this sport for many years.

As silly as this sport sounds, injuries such as sprain, strain, broken bones are common among the contestants. Seems Copper Hill is almost vertical, almost all the runners tumble all the way down. Even the spectators of this sport are not safe! Usually, four races will be held each year, which three of them are designed for men and one of the race is specifically implemented for the women to participate. The number of runners who can participate in each race are limited to 20 contestants only for the sake of their safety.

All the contestants have to move faster and become
the first person to arrive at the bottom of the hill.

This sport is very simple yet dangerous enough for all contestants as the safety precautions that can be taken are very limited.

The contestants are facing high risk to become injured in this game.
