UNICYCLE HOCKEY

Have you ever heard of a unicycle? Riding a unicycle would be more challenging than riding on a bicycle. Unicycle is a one-wheeled vehicle with a frame that sits above the wheel and a seat that sits on top of the frame. I t consists of a large wheel at the front where the pedals are attached, and a smaller wheel behind for balancing. So, every time this unicycle hits a bump, or suddenly the rider is trying to make it slow down, the smaller wheel would come off the ground and make the unicycle balances by using the one wheel. It is believed to has been adapted from Penny Farthing, the world's first bicycle.

Riding a unicycle is not as easy as riding a bicycle with two balanced wheel.

There are at least three national unicycle hockey leagues all around the world. The three countries which have implemented this sport in their country are United Kingdom with approximately 10 registered team, Germany with their 53 registered teams and Switzerland where there are approximately 20 teams registered for this sport.

Even though riding it sounds challenging, some people are able to play hockey while riding this unicycle. This sport is just like playing the usual hockey tournament, like what we are used to watch before except the players need to ride a unicycle and use the regular hockey sticks and tennis ball as the game equipments. The most challenging part in this game is when the players have to keep them balance on the one big wheel and run for the ball to be scored.

A large area are needed in order to play this game smoothly.
